Hey there!
I’m Clare Siobhan Callery, a second year PR student at Leeds Metropolitan.
Since starting my course I’ve had work experience at MCG PR in Chapel Allerton and Quest PR in Harrogate. Since all my experience has been in PR agencies so far I’m trying to get some experience at an in-house PR department of a larger company. Watch this space!
I’ve also had the chance to write for exciting websites like Behind the Spin and listen to some exciting evening guest lecturers at Leeds Metropolitan. My biggest achievements to date is getting a letter published in the Metro and also getting coverage for a client in the London edition of the Metro whilst working at Quest PR as this coverage was worth over £15,000!
I’m really enjoying the daunting but exciting world of PR so far. This blog is a way for me to channel my thoughts on the business and develop my writing skills. I’m write about any work experience I get or any other opportunities that come my way.
So I hope you enjoy my blog and I love receiving comments, so fire away!

Hi Clare!
Great to hear from a fellow Leeds Met PR student! Although I am a little surprised to hear I’m being talked about! I had no idea!
I’m glad to hear you like my blog, yours is looking really good! Lots of people don’t even bother filling in an “about me” page which is really the only way to let people know who you are, and what you’re about! So well done on taking the time to make your blog more personal.
You already know that experience is incredibly important for our course (I’m sure the lecturers have stressed it a lot already!) and I’m impressed to see you’ve already got some work experience under your belt!
My advice is to try and get as much experience as possible, and maybe try different sectors; this will help you decide what you might fancy going into after Uni. Also make sure you keep up the blog! Blogging can really help you to get your name out there, and can even result in you being head hunted! It helps to increase your contacts, which are bound to help in the future. Check out the guest blog post I did for Karen Russel’s blog Teaching PR for more tips on getting some good internships! Hope it’s helpful!
